This dish isn't just for gumballs, you can put any kind of candy in it.
The materials needed for this project are: a small terracotta pot and dish, a round vase, a door handle (we already had these living in a junk drawer), some hot glue and spray paint (I used spray paint we already had living in the garage).
To start, spray paint the the terracotta pot and dish.
As soon as the paint is dry go ahead and glue the vase onto the pot and glue the door handle onto the dish.
Once the glue has dried, fill the dish with your candy of choice. We filled ours with gumballs and gummy bears.
This was a fun and easy project, and for only around $3.00 each these little candy dishes really make a statement.
ok I made these and my candy taste like spray paint?? Did you have this problem? I even tried painting with acrylic paint and clear coated with a clear spray paint? Thanks for any help..
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you are getting a spray paint taste, I didn't have that problem. I'm not sure why that's happening. Did you paint the inside of the lid? I didn't, maybe that's what's causing the taste? Let me do some more thinking and if I come up with any ideas I will let you know.
DeleteI used Acrylic paint to paint the pots then clear coated them with spraypaint. I did paint the inside lid. I will try another one and not paint the inside lid. Have you had chocolate in yours? Thanks for your help. I actually made two of these for a gift and then filled them with kisses... they tasted horrible. I am hoping that the next one comes out okay b/c this was my mother's day gift! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried chocolate in it. I had gum balls, gummy bears and hard candy in them. I wonder if it's the clear coat you are using that's causing the problems. I know clear coat can sometimes take a long time to dry. I used to paint ceramics and the clear coat smell took forever to go away. I used Rustoleum and Valspar spray paint for mine. But I would think that if you don't paint the inside of the lid, then it shouldn't matter, since the fumes from the paint won't come in contact with the candy or the bowl. Please let me know how it turns out. It sounds like a really fun Mother's Day gift. Good luck!
